Minister Danese Frazier Turner
Danese Turner has been writing “make believe” stories, poems, and serious prose for as long as she can remember. And then the pastime turned into her profession. Danese has over 22 years of marketing communication, writing, and instructional design experience. She is currently a lead instructional designer and senior education specialist at IBM. But her passion is teaching and creatively sharing the purpose and power of the worship arts with the people of God.
Danese is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, Mississippi where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in English, graduating #4 in her class after only three years in college. She holds a Master’s Degree (with honors) in Technical and Scientific Communication from Miami University (Ohio) and holds a Certificate in Instructional Design and Technology through the University of Georgia.
Danese is an active member of Turner Chapel AME Church in Marietta, GA, where the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Marcus is Senior Pastor. She started REJOICE! The Children's Dance Ministry of Turner Chapel in 2001, and continues to serve as ministry leader. In 2006, she was appointed by the Youth Pastor, Rev. Don Ezell, to serve as the Team Lead for all Youth Worship Ministries. She also leads Spirit and Truth Adult Dance Ministry at Turner, and birthed Glorious!, the Pageantry Ministry in 2008. Since 2003, Danese has been the writer, producer, and co-director of the much-anticipated annual Spring Production for the Turner Chapel Worship Arts Ministries.
In October 2006, after an intensive one-year program, Danese was officially licensed as a Minister of Dance through the Eagles International Training Institute (EITI) and Set Free Ministries, Inc., under the anointed training and instruction of Dr. Pamela Hardy, an internationally-known dance minister and a trailblazer in liturgical dance. Minister Turner was one of four students in the graduating class to receive an Excellence in Writing Award and now serves as a writing coach for the EITI program. In addition, she is the North Georgia State Coordinator of EITI, mentors “Eagles” in the United States and abroad, and serves as an instructor within The Eagles Network (TEN).
In April 2006, Minister Turner founded The Purpose and Power Connection, a consortium of anointed worship artists with a wide array of gifts, whose mission is to connect facilitators/teachers, dancers, puppetry artists, mimes, steppers, and pageantry artists with any workshop or event where the purpose is to bring glory to God and to display His power. Danese is blessed and thankful to have accomplished her dream— The Purpose and Power Connection’s debut of its first community theater production, Blood Relatives, on October 17, 2010 at Georgia State University’s Rialto Center for the Performing Arts. She looks forward to presenting an annual stage experience which brings numerous worship arts ministries together.
Danese teaches at Worship Arts workshops and conferences and facilitates local “Power Sessions” designed to empower and equip ministries and movement artists to go “higher” in ministry. Danese is a member of the Christian Dance Fellowship USA and Rho Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In October 2009, Danese was honored and humbled by being selected as Turner Chapel’s Layperson of the Year for 2008-2009.
Danese is married to her true soulmate, Andrew Turner, and is the mother of Déja, the beloved “Mama D” to Christopher, Steven, Jamesia, and Jahlisa, and is enjoying her role as “G-Diva” to their newest addition, Caeden Dion.
Danese is excited about where God is leading her in ministry and personally testifies to Proverbs 18:16, "A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men."
About Our Logo
The nondescript figures illustrate movement and praise. They represent men, women, boys and girls of all ages, all races, and all cultures in accordance with the command in Psalm 150:6. The command is so important that it is repeated twice in the same short verse: "Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the Lord." And praise is truly an action verb!! The color purple represents royalty and Kingship, and the yellow/gold represents glory and celebration. All of God's children are "a royal priesthood and a chosen generation" and that's reason enough to celebrate!
